True Life : I Love Smoothies

I've been on a smoothie kick lately.

When it comes to cooking/baking/anything in the kitchen - I'm generally one to stick strictly to a recipe. You definitely won't find me going all Emeril and improvising. Just not going to happen... unless I'm making a smoothie.

Yesterday, I put together a concoction that I just have to share. It was so good I barely even put it down. I'm actually drinking it right now as I right this. The proof is in the picture, people!

 Here's what you'll need:

1 cup crushed ice
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
1 banana
1 tablespoon honey (or agave)
1 cup coconut water
handful of frozen blueberries

Put all ingredients in the blender & blend until fully blended!
(how many times can I say blender in one sentence?)

Pour and ENJOY!

I choose to use coconut water because I love it! My favorite brands are Harvest Bay & C2O because they have a naturally sweeter taste to them without added sweeteners. If you're not a coconut water fan like many people I know, you can substitute with your favorite juice!

Also if you would rather use fresh berries, go for it! There are no laws to smoothie making, improvise! I'm thinking when I make this tomorrow I might throw in some old-fashion rolled oats to make it a little heartier. We'll see how that goes!

WARNING - you will have blueberry seeds in your teeth after drinking this so be sure to check yourself out in the mirror before going out in public. Unless you want to be like me, then you should drink this smoothie and then go directly to the grocery store and run into everyone you know & don't want to see.

Let me know if you try this out & what you think! I'm pretty proud of myself. Or if you have any recipes you love, please do share!

  1. I really need to get on the smoothie bandwagon! I'm such an improviser in the kitchen and with baking that I feel like I couldn't mess them up!

  2. That sounds delicious! I want to start drinking more smoothies. They're so easy to make, and like you're saying you can definitely improvise! Plus they're a great way to be healthy and get some fruits into my diet.

  3. I will have to try that! When summer hits I become a smoothie fanatic. As in, I WANT TO HAVE A SMOOTHING ALL DAY EVERY DAY! I don't discriminate, I love them all.

  4. This sounds yummy! I need to do more smoothies now that it's hot and summery - just don't feel like eating hot meals as much.

    Thanks for sharing :)

  6. Yum! I absolutely love smoothies and totally agree with you- I'm not much of an improvisational cook but when I do, it's in my smoothies! Thanks for sharing your concoction :)
