If you really knew me...

Since I'm still fairly new to this whole blogging thing, I thought it'd be a good day to do a "getting to know you" post! Some of my favorite bloggers have done a variation of this post and I thought I'd give it a go.

If you really knew me, you'd know...

{ I will forever get chills from the final scene in Dirty Dancing. I even forced Peter to try and execute the famous lift a few years ago in my living room, unsuccessful. }

{ I have no idea what I'm doing with my life. I went to school to be a Spanish teacher, interned for a year as a wedding/event planner, and became my Mom's caretaker as things got worse with her health. Jack of all trades? Not really, but I'm just not someone who would NOT be okay with settling for something that doesn't make me feel happy, accomplished, and proud every day. }

{ ... that being said, I find myself and my true happiness when I'm doing something creative - crafting, baking, cooking, creating. I just discovered this more recently and have found that it's helped in my healing since my Mom's death. }

{ it's not unusual for me to cry during Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Say Yes to the Dress, The Ellen Show, and the finale episode of FRIENDS. }

{ Peter and I are high school sweethearts, and even though we were young when we met, I knew pretty quickly that I wanted to marry him one day, }

{ in 8th grade science class, my biology teacher had a parakeet in the classroom. I decided I need a bird and asked for one for Christmas that year. Here I am 10+ years later with a parakeet (Lola) that seems to want to live forever. }

{ my engagement ring is my favorite accessory, but for more reasons than you might think. Of course it's special because it came from the person I love most, but ALSO because he brought my Mom along with him to help pick out the diamond. For that, I'll be forever grateful and thankful since she won't be there on our wedding day. }

{ I'm a true girly girl. Peter is a true outdoors man. I fully believe that we balance each other out and opposites really do attract. }

{ I constantly find myself speaking for my dogs. Some people talk TO their dogs, but I narrate for my dogs as if I'm in their head and know what they are thinking and wanting to say. Really I'm just doing them a favor. }

{ I unintentionally snort sometimes when I laugh. It's a problem. }

{ I won't eat anything that involves cooked fruit. Pies, cobblers, muffins, fruit bread, nope, nope, nope. I think it has to do with the consistency but who knows. }

{ I'm severely afraid of the wind. I don't know when in my life I became so scarred by it, but if it's a really windy day, I'm convinced my house is going to blow away. Throw in some rain along with the wind and I can't get myself to use an umbrella because I don't want it to flip open. }

{ Riesling is my favorite wine. }

{ I find SO much joy in giving other people gifts. }

{ I've always been bitter than my name doesn't really lend itself to nicknames. I tried to get people to call me Andy in college, which caught on for a little, but didn't last. }

{ I keep a list of baby names I like in the notepad on my phone. There are also some dog names in there. I fully believe those will come in handy one day. }

{ I just got my first tattoo this past weekend... but more on that another day :-) }

Yes I did just end that with a teaser!
That was fun and I hope you enjoyed getting to know the girl behind the blog a little better.

  1. I'm glad you did this post! Your ring is gorgeous - Peter and your mom did a wonderful job of picking it out!

    And I make my dogs talk, too. Is that weird? Ha.

  2. I also talk to my dogs as if they are humans and I love to narrate what I think they are thinking when we have people over, because I know they are thinking hilarious thoughts about all of us!
